I use Cox@Home. Does anyone else here use Cox with the @Home service? If so, do you still have access? I'm in Connecticut, and we still have access, but from what I've read, @Home is having lots of outages.
My cable modem is now working, but it can't reach any websites. AT&T is moving subscribers to their own network now, so I guess my modem is connected up to my local hub or something, just not to the rest of the Internet yet.
I'm actually pretty impressed they did that that fast.. though I'm sure they've been planning for this scenario. Of course the few million a day loss is a pretty good catalyst.
I'm on a 56k now (connected at 45)... slow sucks.
heh last night with my cable modem I downloaded a backup of my db at over 1mbps

Still connected here at Comcast@Home... whew. Not sure how long it'll last. I wish AT&T would just make an offer Excite would accept so we could get this fiasco done with. As aspen has experienced, AT&T were the first set of users to have widespread outage; CNET News.com is reporting over 850,000 were without it today, while Cox, Comcast, etc. users are having trouble here and there.
Rogers is just about to sign with Excite, all infrastructure is ready so all they have to do is "flip the switch".![]()

I'm in the same boat, but I blame excite more than ATT. They're the ones who threatened shutdown of the network to extort more cash for their shareholders. They could have *easily* given everyone *att included* 30 days to clear this up, but chose not to in a fit of infantile pique...Originally posted by aspen
Well, last night at midnight my cable worked. This morning it does not.
I use ATT, they said they'll either buy excite or switch us to their own network. We get credit for 2 free days for every 1 day or interruption and it could take 1-14 days (probably business days too).
Annoying.
9:50 PM - Rogers & Excite @Home Transitional Agreement
Rogers Cable has announced that it has reached a three-month transitional agreement with Excite @ Home in the United States. This agreement is subject to court approval.
Close to 70% of Rogers @Home customers have now converted to their new '@rogers.com' Email addresses however, we continue to urge those customers who have not made the transition to do so as quickly as possible.
Further updates on this transitional agreement will be available on this update page in the coming days.

I sure hope that I won't have to change my email address. That's the main reason why I keep Cable.

creole,
If you do have to chage it, why don't you use a POP mail address from your own domain and be done with it, no matter who your ISP is...?

Because I like to keep my business and personal emails seperate. I've had domains now for 5 years or so. I just don't like using the same one for business and pleasure.

I have 2 domains, 2 email addresses (well, really 4) one for biz, one for personal.

If any of you will be having to change your e-mail that is used often, the above link will be helpful.
I am pretty sure all the e-mails are going to be changed: Cox, Comcast, AT&T - everyone, since @home will be defunct in three months. Luckily for me, I didn't start using my marc.james86@home.com e-mail after I got @Home three weeks ago, so I am still relying on my dialup account via RCN.
Well I woke up this morning and it was working... and faster than before too... Perhaps this will change but right now it's better then it was before.
