For some reason this morning Im getting this error when I try and check my email:

Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'personal', Server: 'pop3.norton.antivirus', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Yesterday it was working fine, Does anyone know what this means?

I had a similar message once. Presumably you have Norton Anti-Virus installed (otherwise it would be very odd!). If you turn Norton Email scanning off, can you receive your mail? It's either on the main NAV menu or under Options (depending on your version) if you're unsure how to do this.

Try to receive mail again. If you still cannot receive mail it's probably due to your mail server, if you can it's something to do with Norton (make sure you manually scan any attachments for viruses before opening them though as Norton won't have checked them!).

In the past I just unchecked the email option, received email, then rechecked it and it has magically worked since. Sorry I can't be more specific than that! (I use Outlook 2000 by the way, not Express).

Possibly that your hosts POP server is down. Try disconnecting/reconnecting (if you're on dialup).

Also did you make any changes to the settings recently?

disable NAV auto protect from your email accounts. Restart PC, reenable NAV auto-protection. It sounds odd, but it has always worked for me.

Glad to hear that. Sometimes you can fix it by making sure POPPROXY.exe is running. Infrequently, it crashes on me and I get that error when it is not running.
