    NintendoForum.com VB Skin [Concept]

    http://www.rosem.com/work/nintendoForums/v1.html - Start
The origional concept I made and posted on another forum yesterday, for a visual reference.

    http://www.rosem.com/work/nintendoForums/v2.html - Middle
I shrunk down the header (suggested by people whoe reviewed the original concept above), and added a top navigation that the client asked for. I decided I didn't like it small. It lost a lot of character and friendliness, and I ran out of room for putting some kick *** drop downs on the nav.

    http://www.rosem.com/work/nintendoForums/ - Getting There...
So I ended up here, and I like it so far - I still need to add alot of detail here and there though. But I rearranged some characters and also added the kick *** drop downs I mentioned earlier - among a few other small details (like toads hand going over the nav now like he's resting on it ). For the people that said the header is too big - well it's only 350px and now holds 2 navigations (1 with a drop down) and thats also including the banner ad at the top of the page. I still have about 250px~ to work with to get a login/register box in there, and a good bit of content to get people to scroll down the page.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the progress...

    Thanks,
    Mike

I prefer the smaller version in the 2nd one. the bigger ones just are too big.

They all look VERY good. Impressive design, use of colours and photoshopping in the end. Very nice looking. I like the third one the mosts since it's got more details, but they are all very nice.

I really like the look but just be careful about the file size. Something like that could be really big and since it's in the header, it will show up on every page. Some browsers will cache that, but it's not garaunteed. Just something to think about.

I agree with everyone here that your design is great.

Being a form however, that header is going to be used / requested quite often so I really would pay some serious attention to the size of everything in that graphic including anything you make later on down the road. At this point, I would say, for once in my life, that you should probably create that using flash. (If you want to keep your quality).

Gorgeous work. What did you charge for that? Also, I'm impressed at how you mvoed Peach over to the left and mario to the right, while keeping it nice.

Very very nice. Especially the 3d graphics in the header(Mario this stuff) I like the way it was done. Good idea of using 3d objects in header, might use for future!

I love it. Very 3D, very nintendo like. Good character choice and good to have Mario leading the way.

Looks great. I can't really think of any suggestions either. One thought i had was perhaps if "Nintendo Forums" was on the left with the ad space and navigation above it, and then having the Mario images on the right? Just a thought. Really like the design.

It looks great, there are only 2 things that i would change.

    1) The date above "rosum" is a bit hard to read.
    2) You have these 2 boxes, with "nintendoforums" and "thread tools" inside them. The top red bar for both of them is wider then the rest of the box.

Maybe it's just me. But i don't really like that, i feel it would look better if you would keep everthing the same size. And you might also try to make the thin grey line underneath the red the same width as red bar above it.

Almost the same goes for the box with "rosum, you 2 new pm's", try to make it the same width as box above it.

Hmm i was thinking about that. I think that would look better too. I was pondering though the effect of it's current positioning, i'm not sure it really needs to connect to the main forum area though.
