Submarine typer? That's hilarious. I've never heard that term used for hunt and peck before

I was going to take the test, but I'm not going to sign up and give them my email just to take 1 test.

I can type 120 WPM error free fully punctuated. I can transcript (read and type what I'm reading) at an admittedly slower speed. Maybe 100 WPM.

By error free what I mean is I can tell when I make a mistake (without looking anywhere just by knowing what my fingers are doing) and I automatically backspace and correct it. If I just ignored my errors I'd type considerably faster but then it would be less than 100% accurate. Since I have this error correcting so ingrained in my brain now though I can't just ignore them. I still make grammatical errors sometimes but no typos, thats due to my knowledge of grammar (or me thinking about something different than what I'm typing) rather than my typing skill.

I don't need to see the screen or keyboard to type either. I'll freak people out sometimes by staring at them instead of the screen while typing. I don't know why but some people find that disconserting.

This is all thanks to years of playing text based muds.

I was tested a few years ago at 45 WPM. I am probably about the same now. I still peek sometimes when I type, but that's because I never learned to type properly.

I know exactly what you mean! I do that all of the time, mostly to my siblings. They go nuts!

Once you do something long enough it almost becomes second nature. Typing, for example.

Sometimes I'll be typing out answers here at SPF without paying any attention, usually I'll be thinking of something else altogether.

I learned to type properly in the 6th grade, when I had a typing class. Like aspen, I always HAVE to correct my errors. A lot of people, for example, can type in Word and never correct a typo. But I always stop. Those little red squiggles just get to me! Sometimes I'll be five or more words ahead of the typo, but I'll still delete everything just to fix it. I don't like to take my hands of the keyboard to use the mouse.
