    IE6 and CSS borders

    I am using CSS to make dashed borders around my tables with the
    border: 1 dashed
    property.

    It worked nicely in IE5/5.5, but when I upgraded to IE6, I just don't see my borders anymore?

    Can I use some other property or IE6 doesn't support this anymore?

    Help!

    Thank you very much.

    try this

    Code:
    border: 1px dashed black;
    IE 6 probably requires you to specify the color associated with the border. IE 5.5 might have a default.

    Can you show us the code?

    and i took a look at the external css sheet for that page... you probably used dreamweaver, right? well anyhow, you set too many variables for it. you don't have to define border-right, border-left etc. if they're all the same. just say border.

    I didn't use Dreamweaver, I coded the site myself... And I added the color tag, so the code is:

    td.border {border-bottom:1 dashed #000000;}
    td.border2 {border-left:1 dashed #000000; border-top:1 dashed #000000; border-bottom:1 dashed #000000; border-right:1 dashed #000000;}
    td.menu {border-bottom:1 dashed #000000; border-left:1 solid #000000; border-right:1 solid #000000;}
    td.dash {border:1 dashed #000000;}

    I have to use the definitions for border-right and so on, because if I haven't used them, some borders would be thicker, and it would ruin my image of the site .

    Anyone has a better idea? Thanx...

    you can change this one

    td.menu {border-bottom:1 dashed #000000; border-left:1 solid #000000; border-right:1 solid #000000;}

    to, say

    td.menu {border: 1px solid #000000; border-bottom: dashed; border-top: none}

    much better

    and this:

    td.border2 {border-left:1 dashed #000000; border-top:1 dashed #000000; border-bottom:1 dashed #000000; border-right:1 dashed #000000;}

    to

    td.border2 {border: 1px dashed #000000;}

    Specify your unit of measurement!
    Code:
    .border2 {
      border: 1px dashed #000000;
      }
