    Free SMTP Servers?

I've recently moved host, my work got a reseller accont with fast hosts and they let me move my domain there , and for teh SMTP Server it says that I've got to use my ISP.

Now, normally I don't think that would have been a problem, BUT I use AOL, who use there own mailing system, so they don't have an SMTP server as far as I know.

SO, does anyone know of a free smtp server that I can use to send emails?

You mean like an open relay?

There are tons of these around - try a search for "open relay" or something.

However the use of a relay is a bit morally dubious. Lots of spammers use them, and chances are the relay's only open because the poor sysadmin doesn't know enough to close it.

And some ISPs block mail from open relays. Would be good if you had a server for which you were actually a designated user

If you have a static IP, why not set up your own? I use the freeware version of ArgoSoft mail server which gives me SMTP and POP, mail redirection and a few other bits besides. Seems to work well enough and runs on Windows with minimal setup.

Aren't those sent through the hosts SMTP server? As far as I knew there is no way to magically generate email, without an SMTP server!
