    freeiPAQ.com - Any issues?

I thought for sometime and understood that iPAQ(pocket pc) will make a good gift for a incentive website. And i was looking for a domain name and BAM.. freeipaq.com was available and i reegd it immediately. Now i wonder if this will involve any legal/copyright issues?

I understand freeipod.com is not owned by Apple though.

    Any help appreciated..

When in doubt ask the vendor at hand (HP) if it's ok. They're going to be the definite authority in that.

iPAQ is a trademark which you would be using in a name for the intent of profiting off that name. There's no question that you could be sued for a number of reasons, but that doesn't mean you will be. freeipod.com exists but the terms under which it operates are unknown -- perhaps Apple doesn't see the negative PR as worth the battle, perhaps there is an agreement, or perhaps they just don't care at this time. HP could have an entirely different opinion.

If you're in doubt over your legal standing, ask an attorney or, as chris_fuel suggested, ask the company.
