And you're a judge, so you shouldn't say it here.

I am very impressed by a number of the entries so far. Even the "plain" ones that just cleaned up and colorized the picture as is. Some of those are technically impressive.

    Glenngould,

I shouldn't think there would be a need to doubt entering.

In my opinion, there are quite a few entries posted to the contest that fall into a couple of categories.
The "aw heck, why not" category
A few submissions are obviously folly, and meant solely to garner a smile, chuckles, or some sort of bereft amusement. Hoo-hoo, hoo-hoo...

    The "almost there, but" category
pretty much self-explained category harboring entries that just about got it, but with a tweak or two, would/should be considered as entries of merit.

    The "Wow factor" category
Some submissions have taken many a breath away from several posters in this thread. Whether or not the artists used their imagination to shy away from the initial rules of the first submission-- will be up to the judges to decide.
Some of the 'pieces' are actually quite nice. Others I believe have gone a bit overboard with their obvious desire to show how well they think they can build fantasy.

The "I think I see where this is heading, going to hold my cards close" category
A few talented manipulators have submitted works that seem as though they've been down this road before and choose not to do anything more than solidly satisfy the request of the contest creators.
These artists have successfully and with merit have completed the initial tasks, and while simplistically following the rules as stated, have left their respective canvasses open for whatever else lies in the minds of this contest's overseers.

With all this said, and I’m sure there will be arguments, there are but two conclusions to be made:

    1) By all means Glenn, do not hold back your submission
    2) The overseers are going to have a dandy of a time deciding with whom to go where, next.

    Warm greetings from Miamisburg, Ohio,

    Michael

You speak the truth, sir. I do not envy the judges in this contest... and I'm very glad I am not one.

    Thanks Young Twig and grimsqueaker.

I dont agree with you guys on it being very tough to judge, its rather easy to make a hierarchy of entries on this first round.
