Hey all. I'm getting ready to re-launch http://www.ithinkitsucks.com (DNS is in process of changeing so you might not get anything) and i've run into a problem.

the site is in it's basic essence a Weblog but i'm throughing my jonese twist on it. I will being doing the normal Weblog, which i call Rambling's on my site, along with a few other things.

the problem that i am running into is the content. for the most part i will be talking about basic things etc. but occaionally i'm sure my topics will get a little adult, or mature. how would you suggest i go about preparing people for this. I don't want people to think i'm running porn site (which i don't even come close too) but i don't want some 8 year old visiting my site and going to mom and dad and asking why this guy loves this girls grey shorts or some other subject.

also keep in mind that all my ramblings are posted to one page and archieve monthly. (i'm using newspro to achieve this)

i have thought of 2 possible solutions.

    1. a splash page much like they do at the start of a South Park Episode.

    2. a one time pop-up window with the notice (expires evry 30 or so days via cookie).

which do you prefer or do you have a better idea. i want to to be professional and a welcome not a hinderance to the site

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You might want a little disclaimer or something at the bottom of your main page telling kids to go away or something but I don't think you need anything fancy. Look at nerve.com for example, they don't have anything I can find telling kids to go away.

For everyday issues, you won't have a problem. They print those in the newspaper with no disclaimers. Also look at modern television. If your not going to get any more risque than a soap opera or evening drama then don't sweat it.

A small disclaimer on your index page and maybe rating your page with PICS organization will be enough to keep you in the clear.
