    Still teaching tables for layout.

I've just completed a 'web publisher certificate' at Langara College in Vancouver, Canada. I was more that a wee bit suprised that all layout on the course was still table based.

I managed to do all the coursework using css, and was told that I was the first student they've had who insisted on using css. Probably because most of the students were just that and had no prior experience to go on/didn't know any better. I have spent the last year converting various table based sites to css so had a head start.

I'm afraid a lot of these courses are out of date before they start but hopefully they will teach some of the basics and then its up to the individual to progress. It would be nice if colleges and courses etc kept up to date with these things and then students wouldn't have to unlearn their bad habits.
