Uhm, oook? I've tried Partition Magic 6 and it's a lot of trouble to go through, believe me.

And CleanSweep, I am NOT going to touch that and it DID kill my laptop, had to format and start over again

My computer stores a lot of valuable information and files, I am not going to take any action without making sure there's hardly any risk.

    JEroen...

It seems obvious but make sure your Recycle Bin is empty. Also, make sure all folders and files are visible. Make sure you don't have any hidden folders and file gobbling up space. Finally, erase all files that have the .tmp extension in your Windows/Temp folder.

Well, I am back and started doing some serious cleaning. About an hour ago I managed to get 116 mb of free space. Now after playing Unreal Tournament (which isn't even touching C:\) and I just started Internet Explorer and Trillian..it's now at 104 mb?! What the..12mb?!

Sketch, I never move things to my Recycle Bin, I just Shift+Delete them

If you reboot to DOS (command prompt only), what's the free space size on each drive without having Windows loaded? That might give you a clearer idea of how much free disk space you have. But you need to realize that the OS needs a certain amount of free disk space to operate, and so when you have Windows running, the amount of free disk space is going to fluctuate (even on partitions that don't have the swap file).

I know you say that Partition Magic is a pain to go through, but right now you've got an almost unusable computer because system resources are used so ineffeciently. Other than not wanting to go through the hassle of using Partition Magic, what is your rationale for not getting rid of one or more of those partitions?

Free Space According to DOS: 123 Mb

I didn't say my computer was not working good It uses the resources quite good, but there's something that keeps on flooding my C:\

Thanks for all your help though, but I might live with this for some days and then buy a new HD. Nice excuse to buy one

Smart cleaner is NOTHING like Clean Sweep. I have used Smart cleaner for about three years, and never a problem.

CleanSweep on the other hand scares me I haven't touched that for about 2 years.

reduce your virtual memory down to 0 that may be your problem.

    Luqman, I already do that.

jkcity, I don't have problems saving files too, I don't save anything on my C:\ partition. It's just that it's getting flooded by something :\

Okay one last question before I unsubscribe from this thread.

Have you actually tried ANY suggestions given here?

People are trying to solve your problems, but you give no indication that you have tried their suggestions.

FEEDBACK mate is a great help, and can help US figure out the problem further if our suggestions don't work!

Uhm..ok? tdevil, most of the suggestions in this thread are already tried out.

Luqman suggested to keep your Program Files etc. seperate, which I am already doing.

jkcity suggested I should reduce my virtual memory to 0, which has nothing to do with my C partition because my SWAP file is on a different partition.

So at the end the only suggestion I am going to try out is yours. I am only replying to other peoples posts! I haven't said I wouldn't do or haven't even tried it yet. So I don't see your problem..
