    Post Hosting Company

    Hello!

I'm thinking of starting a small hosting company though I do not know were to start. Can you please help me out?

It's my dream to own my own company, to have offices, to be busy. What would I have to do first in order to start my own company ( a web hosting company? ).

get a reseller package from a hosting company.
SJR hosting and hostgator.com are both good hosts. Also check your PM.

Don't buy a dedicated server, odds are you won't need it for a while, if ever.

Start small, don't expect to make any money for a long time and expect to work your *** off. Webhosting is a hard hard business to break into.

I am about to do the same thing and my advice is to specialize.

Specialize in some niche area. There are a lot of cheap hosts with bad customer support. Find a niche and address their specific needs while charging more.

Are you knowledgable in some area (eg. stamp collecting).

Develop some solutions that stamp collectors would like. Then market it to them.

My guess is that they would be more interested than if a regular 'cheaphostingcompany.com' ask for their business.

It can be done. Lots of people start this business but like any business it take effort to work well.

Also there are a lot of companies selling tools to make like easier (ie. support systems, SMS notification, server management etc. etc.)

The real work is supporting customers questions.

    Good luck.
