Just linking to a site that contains "illegal" content is not a crime in itself

Another problem would be the ability to sleep at night, knowing you were assisting people to rip off fellow software developers.

It depends on the laws of your country. Recently in Germany a site was shut down for having only links to copywritten material (downloads).

Linking directly to warez download files makes yours a warez site. They are being closed down all the time by legal action. Why on earth do you think so many forums have in their terms and conditions that there will be no talk of or links to warez ? Because it can lead to legal action. The argument being that if you leave the links their you are condoning / supporting it and are therefore an accomplice to it.

Personally I also find it amusing you are coming into a software development site and asking advice on whether you can provide links to stolen software.

The man's got an excellent point. I would steer clear of any hint of warez activity.
