What permission should I set on my cgi-bin directory? I would like to know the setting that is the most secure and will allow the scripts to run without errors. Please reply ASAP!

from my understanding i think you have to set the cgi-bin at 777. but try it at 755 and see what happens. if you don't have any problems with your scripts keep it at 755.

also have your IHP set your host so that directory browsing is not allowed. so if someone types in http://www.you.com/cgi-bin/ they will get an error message rather then a listing of everything in your directory.

to keep people from browsing my cgi directories, i place an index.html doc with a redirectiom tag in it...is this sufficient to keep prying eyes away?

that should keep people from browsing. since the browser will pull up the index document instead of anything else...
