bookmark icons

hey guys - i just finished creating a bookmark icon for my site and have uploaded it

i followed the normal steps: .ico format, saved as favicon.ico, 16x16 pixels, and uploaded it into the root of my ftp

i'm getting the following error when i go to: www.clubnest.net/favicon.ico:

The image “http://www.clubnest.net/favicon.ico” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

whats the problem? i've tried this on other sites that have an icon, and it works fine - i can see the icon...

Sounds like you've made an error in creating the favicon. Can you go through the steps you used to create it?

i used paint shop pro 7: create 16x16 img, saved as favicon.gif, upload in root directory of ftp, then i went to globat.com (my hosting provider) -> filemanager -> renamed favicon.gif to favicon.ico...

go to www.clubnest.net/favicon.ico:
in firefox: the img loads fine, but the icon isn't incorporated to all the pages and the bookmark
in IE: the img doesnt load (the cross img icon is shown), and obviously, it's not incorporated in all the pages + bookmark

Simply renaming the file extension will not convert the image...
If it was that easy, I'd just start renaming *.tiff to *.jpg

OK it works!! i dont recommed using favicon.com though -- it's not that helpful.
just download easy icon maker free trial and make the icon there.

but anyways, the icon isn't being shown on ALL my pages..?? how do i fix that? or is just a matter of time?

I use microangelo, and I like it. Either way, I just use Dynamic Drive's .ico generator to do it because it's easier.
