    Forms

    Okay,

    Got another one...

    I have a contents div with no height specified and there's a form in the contents...I have used divs for alignment purposes withing the contents div. Everything works fine in IE6 (shock, horror) but is totally screwed in FF.

    Anyone any ideas???

    Thanx
    Rhys Jones

    How about a look at some code or a link to the page?

    <p class="subhead">Use the form below, or contact us at</p>
    <form method="post" enctype="text/plain" action="mailto:caeraustralis@caeraustralis.com.au">

    Email: <br />
    Service<br /><br />
    Description
    </div>
    <div id="form2">
    sales@arcturusdesign.com.au<br />
    08 6262 4988<br />
    PO Box 439 Maylands WA 6931<br />
    <hr />
    <input type="text" name="name" size="40" />
    <input type="text" name="email" size="40" />
    <select name="service" size="1">
    <option selected="selected">Web Design</option>
    <option value="Web Administration">Web Administration</option>
    <option value="Web Design &amp; Admin">Web Design &amp; Administration</option>
    </select>
    <br /><br />
    <textarea name="description" rows="5" cols="40"></textarea>
    <input type="submit" value="Submit Query" />
    <input type="reset" value="Reset Form" />

    What you've got there looks the same to me in FF & IE with a correct doctype. It's not a doctype problem again is it?

    Its not the doctype - I've taken care of that...

    I have sample pages on my ISP's Server now, together with the css. One page is trying to use css for layout of the form, the other uses tables. The first one don't work no good, but the second does...here are the URL's:

    using css: http://caeraustralis.iinet.net.au/TEST/contacta.html
    using tables: http://caeraustralis.iinet.net.au/TEST/contactb.html
    css: http://caeraustralis.iinet.net.au/TEST/style.css

    Hope someone can give me some insight into thios as I'd like to have the layout controlled by CSS wherever possible...

    Thanx heaps,
    Rhys Jones

    For the CSS-only version, don't layout your form like that; for starters, none of the form labels are with the form inputs - turn your styles off and your page becomes quite unusable.

    Have a look at these examples for tips on how to build a form in CSS:
    http://garyblue.port5.com/webdev/form.html
    http://jeffhowden.com/code/css/forms/
    http://www.themaninblue.com/experime...orm/margin.htm

    (the last link appears to be down at the moment unfortunately).
