    grammar question...

    Hi!

    I have these strings:

    must_record_a_joke

    and

    user_has_not_recorded_a_joke (1)
    or
    user_has_not_recorded_any_joke (1)

Need an english speaking person here:
which is right (1) or (2) ?? (I correct english, is it a or any??)

P.S. I know it's useless but I really need to know.

    Thanks

I'm not English, yet I prefer:
user_has_not_recorded_any_jokes I don't know why, but I like to add plural word after any

As r937 has said, both are grammatially correct and clearly indicate the purpose of the string. I am guessing this is to check to see if they have recorded a joke in this one single instance, not if they have ever posted a joke; so I prefer "user_has_not_recorded_a_joke" (any or any_jokes implies that this user has no jokes at all in a db, something I am just assuming is not being checked)

    I agree with Jake4974.

    It should be user_has_not_recorded_a_joke

and....if you want to use 'any' you need 'joke' to be plural..... 'jokes'

I'd actually go with user_has_not_recorded_joke. But the both are okay either way.
