I have begun laying out my business model and the tools that I will use. I have decided that MySQL and PostgreSQL will fit my needs for all of the web stuff.... But I need a database that runs on Windows (as well as a Linux/FreeBSD version) that is inexpensive.... Any suggestions? I am trying to stay away from MS SQL.
Well let me lay out the business philosophy and maybe that will help.
I want to offer programming services to small businesses around the area at a cheaper price than the big boys do. I want to develop software that can be used by these small businesses to help them with their jobs but I don't want the products to cost an arm and a leg. Since most small businesses have never heard of Linux I will definitely suggest it and give them reasons why.... But if they are Windows centered then I don't want to lose business
The databases would need to sit @ the place where the server is (the customer's office). So a small database that can handle about 10 to no more than 100 employees accessing it at the same time would not bring it down.
