    I love web developers!

I just wanna give a shout out to all the code junkies out there who spend all or a significant portion of their time, spare or otherwise, developing web applications for us designers and developer wannabes who use them.

    YOU ARE MY ROCK!

Here are some of the things you do that just warm my geeky little heart:

    • You offer your blood/sweat/tears soaked product for FREE

    • You host support forums and offer advice on use of your product for FREE

    • You answer the same irritating newbie questions a thousand times only displaying mild irritation

    • You constantly update your product to perform better, faster, and more securely for FREE

I have spent the past few weeks skinning/theme-ing a number of such applications (miniBB, coppermine, wordpress, and drupal) - I've learned a lot and it's been a lot of fun!

    THANK YOU, web developers!

What's with the FREE FREE FREE? It's not like all developers do open-source or freebie software.

    Yes, yes, pardon me.

I really should have classified these particular web developers as, oh, something more like Those Gifted Web Application Developers with the Distinct and Underappreciated Talent for Writing and Disseminating Really Cool Software for Free, I suppose

Sorry for not being more clear in my previous post

I was going to say thanks, but then I remembered that I charge like a wounded bull for my work.

chances are those FREE scripts earn the author more money than you think

advertisements, good backlinks in google helping with good positions etc etc.

i wouldnt be surprised if some free software's earn as much as paid

    look at php-nuke
how many ads can you fit on one site
phpnuke.org certainly goes for the guiness world record

Exactly. You'd be amazed the traffic you get and the increased credibility just for offering something for free. It's kind of a way of advertising i guess.

I know, I know. It was a moment of mid-night gratitude.

Yeah, some of these sites are near seizure inducing.

I really am impressed with the patience some of these forum admins can display, though.

Well, I was going to say thank you... but then I remembered that I am not code junkie, that I still need to learn lots, that this is a never ending story and that... well, I have never participated in an open source product...
