Help ... I've killed my laptop
AMD K6-2 400 running WinXP.
I've downloaded some new skins to be used with logonui selector. One of the logon screens only has a shut down button, there is no where to log in. Basically I can't get into my operating system at all, I can't even use a win98 boot disc as my file system is NTFS.
Anyone help .... pleaseKeith

Can you get into DOS? Perhaps you can delete the skins from there so that it will switch back to the defaul skin again. I have no clue or whatsoever, but it could be worth a try.

** sorry for butting in....pinki's in the bath soaking his aching bones!! Poor thing has caught my throat infection and it looks like he's getting a head cold too! **
Apparently it won't let him boot up in Safe Mode. We've just downloaded a win xp boot disk, so with any luck that will do the trick but I won't know 'til he gets out the bath. Woe betide me if I touch his precious laptop!!!Saz: Naturally Blonde, Naturally Dizzy!

I tried booting up in safe mode but it just returns to the shutdown screen. I've also tried using a win98 boot disc, but XP has no dos so it wouldn't let me do anything useful. Basically, the guy who designed the screen forgot to put in the logon boxes for the user and administrator. I'm going to give the boot disc a try and I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks for your replies,Keith

Didn't need the boot disc, got the answer from a guy at the forum at tweakxp.com. If you hit Ctrl, Alt, Del twice at the welcome screen it takes you into the classic desktop login screen. I'm off to delete a dodgy logonui file now

Yes, it most certainly was, it has saved me a stack of work re-installing everything, plus it's a handy thing to know for the future
