    Visual C++ Runtime Library

    I am frequently having this error message - http://www.perthportal.f2s.com/abnormal.gif - popping up while running ICQ or Morpheous etc.

    How would I go about reinstalling this Visual C++ Runtime Library thing?

    Looking at the MS Knowledge base I came across two similar problems. The solutions were as follows:

    1) delete the program (really!)

    2) You might be running low on disk space.

    Usually, I've found that running certain programs with other things on my computer can make it crash. You didnt list your OS, but you can see what is running by using CTRL-ALT-DEL and looking at your task manager.

    Try stopping all the programs (except explorer and systray) and then running Morpheus or ICQ by themselves. If you are still crashing , then try downloading and installing the newest version of each program. (after you remove the original program, of course).

    This is one of those "who knows" problems, and you will just have to experiment with things to see if it stops.

    I don't know on which windows version you are running ICQ but on Win2000 there are at least 2 files for Visual C++ Runtime library (there can be more depending on software installed):

    -msvcirt.dll
    -msvcp50.dll

    Look in c:\Winnt\system32.

    I don't know if deleting these files and letting win2000 recopy them will solve the problem (I've never had this error with ICQ) but I've found this:

    http://www.driverforum.com/scanner/15180.html

    I hope this helps
