    Footer Issue

    Does anyone know why this footer is not aligning correctly in IE?

    Nick,
    Try removing these from 'global.css':
    Code:
    #footer {
     clear: both;
     width: 588px;
     margin:auto;
     height: 47px;
     top:-47px;
     left:72px;
     position:relative;
     background: url(../images/footer_bg.gif) no-repeat;
     }

    * html #footer { left:72px;}

    That and add vertical-align:vertical; to the images on your links bar... and lose the EM/PT sized fonts on your menu since it 'wraps' in opera and on IE/Large fonts... and I'd scratch the position:relative alltogether.

    Usually, if you have to tweak something with position:relative, you've got an alignment or margin issue somewhere else. Position:relative generally ends up being treating the symptom, not the cause.

    Not to mention if your site changes length, your position relative elements will have the habit of not repositioning until you mouse-over them in IE.

    Here's a screencap showing you what I mean (winXP, Large Fonts, Opera 9.01 - IE shows much the same)

    @bonrouge,

    Cheers, I just removed the * html #footer {...} I forgot it was there.

    @deathshadow,

    I think you may have been answering a different question, thanks for the advice anyway, but this design is going to break in bigger text sizes, but its not my design, so it will have to do.

    Footer is fixed now, so cheers.

    I think it's just a typo and you meant bottom (or one of the other valid keywords (vertical is not in the list)).

    Are you sure Paul? Maybe you don't know everything about CSS?

    Only joking.
