On it's way to my door...

Due to a recent influx of money from a logo contest win I made an order from Amazon.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for the PS2 is even now on it's way to my door. I've read some reviews that say this is the best game ever made. What are your thoughts? Does anyone own it yet? Will I be seriously impairing my SitePoint time because of this game? Will my dog die because I don't have the time to feed him?

creole, say goodbye to your life.

    Nice knowing you.

I have played the demo of this game, and it is absolutely amazing, the story is supposed to be great, and if its on par with he first, I believe it. The level of detail put into the game is unreal.

This game WILL be taking a huge chunk out of your life, so yes to all those questions.

Oh, lucky git! Won't be out here for ages (Scotland).

    Nice knowing you, Nacho!

I recently bought a new printer with all my amazon gift certificates. Ended up only paying $10

I'll have Nacho if you'd rather live on the PS2. I've seen the site and he's so cute Him and Bob (my hamster) will no doubt get along really well, if Nacho doesn't eat him - or vice versa (he's a big hamster).

I've not got a PS2, mainly cos i'm not a huge console gamer and haven't had one since my SNES met an untimely demise a few years back. I've just ordered one of the newly cased PSOnes though which looks cool. The games are nice and cheap now the PS2 is in full swing and i'm hooked on Smackdown 2 being a bit of a WWF junkie. No wonder i'm falling behind with work

    Well folks...

I got MGS2 last night and I have to say that it looks like Nacho will live after all.

I'm not impressed with this game. The graphics are quite excellent, but are there any games with BAD graphics these days? The game play though is what gets me. It's very unique and challenging and all but they forgot to say that it also sucks.

It uses the Tomb Raider style camera angles meaning that you see your character from different angles depending on your current position. Normal angle is above and to the rear of your character looking forward. If you're below a balcony then the camera shifts to in front and above you looking toward you. If you're close to a wall the camera is right above you looking straight down. If you're flat against the wall the camera moves to chest level looking right at your face.

All this makes the game VERY difficult to play. Since there is no "one" camera angle it's difficult to predict how your enemies will approach you. This makes it difficult to kill them. The aiming scheme sucks as it is a pain in the BUTT to aim using a joystick.

It's a fairly enjoyable game but I thank GOD that I didn't work to earn the money that I paid for it.

Why can't game designers understand that good games do not necessarily have to be complex. Look at FREAKING Tetris, Pac-Man, Super Mario Brothers. Some of those games have 4 controls, some only 1.

This will be the last time that I buy a game without playing it first. I got burned on Tekken Tag and now got burned on MGS2. Let this be a lesson to you all children.

Creole, speaking of 'thank god I didn't pay for ..', Thank GOD(!!) I didn't pay for myPS2, I won it from a TV competition .. the console is useless! I am trying to sell it to raise cash for a Gameboy Advance and an X-Box or Gamecube.

    Hmm...

I think the PS2 is pretty good. It doesn't seem to have many games that I really like but the ones that I do like are really good.

I've played the demo of MGS2 (not out here till Febuary) and I loved it! The grahpics are excellent, even maybe on par with GT3. I played the first and I was addictied, I completed it in th first sitting. But I guess everyone has different tastes.

Has anyone played or bought GTA3! Now that is a game you can not dislike!
