They do another smaller jeepy thing with a 1.3 engine, but again it is a bit of tank... a 106 would definitely be a good bet...

    Platinums bill!!

    cost of car: $500
    cost for registration: $500
    cost of insurance: $8000

that just about sums it up... here he gits hit hard for insurance because he is <25 and is driving a turbo car.... and they will insure you, because they know you will crash, theyll give you crap all for your car when you do, but still charge you more then the price of the car to insure you....

Yeah, I know they are not quite econmical, but I just love the way they look. I have always been crazy about Jeeps, so it is just a small disease. It is still about a year before I can go and buy a car, so until that time I will dream on .

Yeh sorry Mark.. a way of life I'm afraid... when I first got my license I really wanted a Suzuki Vitara (and apart from the cost of the car) the insurance was horrendous.

I drove a one litre citroen AX for two years which was OK, then I went mad, got a student loan and bought a BMW316i, which was great but realised I couldn't afford it [COS OF THE INSURANCE!!!!] and had to sell it, got an even worse VW Jetta for 800 which was a royal POS and now, having driven for 4 years with 4 years no claims etc I am driving a Rover 114 GTA. It is a gorgeous car, and is very quick.

It is worth starting small and working up for a number of reasons.

The 1st is that when you first pass you will think you are Michael Schumacher on the road, and that there's nothing you can't do. Not true!

If you start small you build up the anticipation of getting a great car. Whereas if you start with a great car you will have nothing to look forward to.

Yes, the most sensible thing to do when you first pass is to get yourself a economical car without all the poo-ha. I know, but I can just imagine myself in that Vitara already.

Just before I get 18 I will start informing what kind of cars are the easiest to insure, and also what it would cost to insure a Vitara.

It will probably become a Peugot 106 / 306, Renault Clio or Citroen Saxo.
