Thread: Newsletter Sign-up
Jul 17, 2006, 10:06 #1
What I want to do is create a script that takes an e-mail when it is entered into the newsletter sign up form and adds it to a database or something...not really sure.
Then when the newsletter is written the e-mail addresses are there to easily copy.
I dunno if php is what I am looking for or if it would be easier using another program.
It would be great if you would let me know, thanks.

Unless you are a php coder yourself, you need a pre-made script. There are a lot of newsletter scripts, free ones, and paid ones.
I do strongly recommend to use a php script (unless your site is in a Windows server, then you may be better with an asp script).
Just go to www.hotscripts.com and enter "newsletter" in the search box.
Personally I use php list.

PHP will not only be able to add the e-mails to a list, it will be able to categorize them (if you want ) then you can write an e-mail and have it automatically sent to everyone on the list.]

so is it really that difficult to write a small script for when the submit button is hit, it takes the e-mail address submitted, puts it into a field on mySQL and maybe each months e-mails me the up to date list just before the newsletter is sent?
