Main page is named index and I tried re-naming it and some other files too, to no avail. How do I get
material from directory where it is onto
the index page? The main page? How do I move this stuff so that it displays? Thanks, Hope

it would be much easier to see what you are talking about if you posted a URL for the site.
They have a FAQ about moving files, creating new dir's, etc etc http://help.angelfire.com/bin/help/B...ng_Directories

You first need to delete the index.html that angelfire creates for you when you make your account. Then you can replace it with the file you created. What you should do is get a nice user-friendly FTP program. Read its manual and the angelfire help file on uploading via FTP and use that to update your site. I recommend cute-ftp for beginners. It can be found at either www.hotfiles.com or www.winfiles.com and all you have to do is search either site for it by name.

We have read that section on managing
directories several times, and think that
the answer must be very simple, but don't understand everything in that section--then surfed in here to ask. Can't move files to index (angelfire's first page) because it doesn't display on the move list.

It's a blank page.

Thanks Wayne,
But their front page--index-- can't be deleted! The files are uploaded, and in directories,
just can't get them to move to the right
place--am I missing something or what?

I created a web site on Web Site Workshop,
desktop publishing software, and then uploaded it to my angelfire account. The files are findable in the account, but do not display. All that displays is the angelfire front page, which I can't get rid of. How do I arrange the files or set this up so that the web site pages I created can actually be seen on the web site? Please help! Thankyou, Hope

make sure your main page is named index or default (whichever one angelfire wants to see, look at their FAQ).

Open your HTML editor in View source mode. if your editor doesn't allow you to view source open Notepad. Load your index.html file into the editor or notepad. Press ctrl-A (select all) then press ctrl-c (copy). Then go to your web browser and go to Angelfire's Online Editor. Once there, open index.html. Click in the text box where the page is listed. Ok.. Here press Ctrl-A and then press ctrl-v. The page you created as your index.html should replace the default text. Click save. If that doesn't work then send AngelFire support email and ask them how you can delete the default index.html file.
