PHP Disbale Magic Quotes

Does anyone know how to disable magic quotes in php...

I cannot seem to find the correct php.ini file (since there are so many) I installed it with the default settings so it should goto /usr/local. If its possible can it be disabled in the php build...?

If you are running php5 ts off by default. And to find out where oyu php.ini file is put the following in a page and then run it. It will tell you where it is on the computer.
