There isn't really anything in PHP or ASP that comes anywhere near vB... Many have looked, but everything comes up a far cry short.

As has been said, there's nothing as good as vB out there at the moment, sadly enough. And as tempting as it is to write something like vB in ASP, I don't have the 2 years it'd take me (and we'll ignore the fact I probably don't have the ability either ).

actually open source forums like snitz cannot be compared with some "products" that is sold.

open sourcescodes are those who want to improe the code, and use in its own.

like what I did for Snitz: http://www.akfel.com.sg/forum

there are many more variations of it, like threaded snitz

You seem to be a fine programmer, but forgive me for saying I don't think your script will rival vBulletin. phpBB's basic layout and features match it in most ways, but even then, it cannot even ATTEMPT to challenge vBulletin's security and administration center...the latter is the one thing that it seems to have a complete stranglehold on. If you do indeed create an ASP version worthy of that claim, congratulations, I'll be the first to virtually shake your hand, but I have serious (yet respectful) doubts.

Anyway, ASP bites. Just thought I'd mention that. The syntax couldn't possibly annoy me much more than it does.

But vBulletin is not open source.

    That said, this statement:

is utter rubbish. If open source products can't compare with stuff you pay for how come Apache is the best web server on the market?

    Skunk,

I think blackinwhite may have been suggesting that open source products can be better than some products that are sold. I think his endorsement of snitz suggests this.

    Correct if I'm wrong bw.

    that was what I claimed.
If you put yourself into the hardwork, open source teams are learning together while working on development.

what is bad about open source codes is that they are generally not well-documented.

I like your forum very much, it's pretty fast also.

The only thing for me now is the price
