    Is this ok?

Okay so right now I am doing this for browsing of categories:

    /browse/24/Uncategorized
    (/browse/CAT_ID/CAT_TITLE)

    /item/24/Uncategorized/31/Red_Bike
    (/item/CAT_ID/CAT_TITLE/ITEM_ID/ITEM_TITLE)

I do not make use of the item/cat titles at all.. only in their for "info". To me it looks weird to have random numbers throughout the URL though. Is this fine though? Any unforseen implications?

It's not going to hurt you from a search engine perspective.

If you're concerned about the numbers, you may want to modify your application to actually use category names -- it makes the URLs a little easier for people to use. But it's really not a big deal, so don't worry too much about it.

If you can make it only :
    /browse/Uncategorized
    (/browse/CAT_TITLE)

    /item/Uncategorized/Red_Bike
    (/item/CAT_TITLE/ITEM_TITLE)

But so you must work very hard or rewriting for each categorie in DB.

    another choise :
    /browse/24-Uncategorized
    (/browse/CAT_ID/CAT_TITLE)

    /item/24-Uncategorized/31-Red_Bike
    (/item/CAT_ID/CAT_TITLE/ITEM_ID/ITEM_TITLE)

Then I think it's complex or not so good for search engines to having 3 or 4 file.

I don't want to OMIT numbers... because then I would need to store another field indicating the "url field"... and considering the data is simple enough, I don't want to pratically double storage just to indicate that...

    I thought about Id-[Cat/Item]_Title.... i duno.

I sincerely doubt that a search engine will consider blah/blah to be any less important than blah-blah. I wouldn't bother changing it.

    The - is a delimiter, the / isn't.

I take it back actually. Of course the / is a delimiter.
