    Crushmaster

Is anyone else getting these really annoying emails?

Apparently someone has a crush on me. Blatantly one of my less clued up friends thought it would be good to enter 10 of their friends email addresses and now the pyramid of span has started.

Basically the way it works is this:

Some random "has a crush on me". You go to their site... but to make a guess who it is, you have to enter three (or more) friends email addresses. You can buy "hints" by signing up with "unmissable" freebie/free money/free invincibilty sites.

Of course all these addresses you have entered in get spammed saying that I now have a crush on them. Not only is this really really dangerous in terms of destroying relationships IT IS SO ANNOYING!

I don't want to unsubscribe because they will send me MORE!!

    Damn them all.

I had my first one of that a few years ago, THEN I was able to unsubscribe.

I had another a few months ago and didn't react this time.

My daughter received one a few weeks ago and wisely ran it by me first. I told her to ignore it and why. But being young she was still curious who had a crush on her

But she forgot about it after a couple of hours, thank goodness I trained her well!

    but aren't you curious?

One of my friends got this and couldn't figure out who it was so she entered like 50 peoples email address into the list... but then she deleted them when they weren't matches since she didn't have a crush on them.

Now we have 50 people trying to figure out who has a crush on them, when every email address they enter there are no matches since she deleted them off of her list. So everyone was entering everyones email addresses it was a mess, until someone got enough clues to figure out who it was and it all got confirmed...

    very annoying

Yeah WATCH OUT for that one!
I am emabaressed to say that I got that one and thought it was my Online friend who sends me love notes, so I actually went there and signed up *gulp*
I stopped short of giving them any others email addresses, (I know better than that) and from then on, got about one email per day from them saying I could get more hints if I gave more email addys. I just *kicked myself* and deleted them.
One month later I started geting over a dozen emails a day from HotDeals@ofr.pm0.net and savebig@ofr.pm0.net. I got 177 emails to that address in ten days and couldn't figure out how anyone even got that email addy.
I wrote a nasty email to pm0.net saying
"I am suddenly recieving up to one dozen emails a day from the following headers which
    include your pm0.net address.
I did not subscribe to any of this crap and therefore according to your site they are in violation of your anti-spam policies.
(I am leaving out the samples for this post)
Need I go on? I got 177 of them in ten days time! Don't belive me? I can always send you a
complete copy of each and every one.
When I find out who "hotdeals" and "Savebig" are, (trust me I will) they are in BIG trouble.
Until then, I would appriciate it if you would require verification email for subscribers
of lists using your program to avoid this proliferation of garbage."

Now after reading this thread, I think that crushlink was the culprit. Because as I said, only my closest friends even have or use the email addy to which these were sent.
Geez I couldn't possibly have time BUY 177 pices of crap in ten days (much less read 177 emails) even if I was stupid enough to buy through email solicitation!
