Equalizing 2 columns/divs without resorting to tables

Hi Folks,

If you scroll down you will notice that the navigation/left div stops short of the right div.

I tried to apply Paul O'B "2 equalising columns" method but because I am still learning CSS couldn't quite get it and completely lost the navigation/left div.

I don't even understand the width | w\idth notation, but I do understand that the little * (universal selector) can wreak havoc in novice hands.

Faux columns may be an easier technique to get your head around.

lol. I so understand where you're at!

May I recommend a little patience and stick with Paul O'B for a bit. Frustrating as it seems now there is a lot of satisfaction in getting this right and it avoids messing round with background images.

Of course, if you've really had enough........ have a go at faux columns.

Just noticed you already have a background image in the left column. Go for Faux Columns.

As for what they mean:
* html feeds rules that only IE < = 6 can understand

width: 152px; w\idth: 150px; - IE < 6 won't understand the rule with the \ in it it's width will be 152px. IE6 & 7 do understand it, so their width will be 150px.

However, I would still like to know where I missed it on Paul's technique.

I got the navigation column back trying to use his technique,
