    Banners

Now I know that relitively speaking banner ads...suck...but does anyone have a good story or experience to share?

What free banner ad swap does anyone recommend, if any? A few years ago I used one w/ pretty good results but that was a few years ago.

Probably not worth the link out, right?

Any thoughts on this are welcome.

um I hate banners.... But I am someone uses it so much... at work to sell the service of the company. but I've my ways to not make them annoyed. visit http://www.centralbanking.co.uk
    and see for your self.

but I've never used one yet on my own site.. but still managed to say #1 on search engine like yahoo and Google for almost 4 months now. just do a search for my first name (azizur) and see for you're self... you dont need so much content or nagging banners to drive traffic into a site.... Its all down to the person who design the site and put the right tag in palce...

Anyway... if you want to know how I did it then... it will cost you money.... sorry... Trading secret!!!! best kept secret.

I've had bad experiences with banners in all but one instance. We swap banners with a contest site and we get quite a few signups and sales from that banner. Since we swap, we don't have to pay anything!

Paying for banners seems to eb a waste of money, butif you can find someone to swap banners with, then you can make them work for you.

I will disagree. Banners that I have used have been somewhat successful. The same factors that are important for search engines hold true. If you can find a highly targeted Web site with exactly the visitors you can attract, and write an effective ad, I've found them to work quite well.

Another good method to use is making banner ads interactive rather than a billboard. The more interactive you are, the more likely you will receive a site visitor. Blinking billboards will (hopefully) soon be a part of the past.

Yes it does. Its interactive and sparks curiosity. It's the best example of a "working" banner that I can think of. That one banner has been around for years.

Of all the ones I used in my early days as a webmaster, linkbuddies.com was the only one I liked.

In fact, I still use it to a small extent.

I use Myfitbanner.com, which is for fitness related sites. I am happy with it.
