I'm surprised there is no option for SPAM, which should be outlawed under penalty of death.

I voted dead links, but popups definetly comes second.

I voted for scripting errors, because they are annoying! Second choice would be dead links.

I don't mind pop ups because they're a part of internet life, just like banner ads. It only becomes annoying to me when there are more than 2 uncontrolled (controlled=cookied) pop ups that spawn new ones everytime you close them.

I have a lot of things that annoy me on the net.

    Dead links is one.

Another one is when people email you for help, then never say thank you after you have assisted them. Like I was put on this earth just to help people? About 5% surprise me with a thank you.

Another one is when people put their whole site on one page, so it takes forever to load.

I can probably think of heaps more.

Pop-ups by far. They can be useful but are all too often abused. If i want to leave a site, i really mean i want to leave a site. And yes, i am sure. Please.

Please release me let me go

One thing I hate is those sites you go to that are supposed to be "jokes". The ones where you visit and they have JavaScript alerts with stupid messages in them and you keep clicking okay, okay, okay, and there is seemingly no end. Well, the ordinary user would be clueless and keep clicking, but I just close the window via the Task Manager.

Another thing is those sites that launch about 100 new windows when you visit - not necessarily ads, just to annoy you. Yuck.

My god there is so many there to choose from. I picked geocities.

One thing I hate is something that happened in the early days. I call it 'socially defectiveness caused by internet addicts'. I have a few friends who suffer from this. They let the internet rule their lives. But the biggest thing that scares me is the lack of communication. While yes they get to chat with people via messengers they are loosing the one thing that is key to communications. Social interaction. I also sometimes call these people social degenerates. In this way I don't just find the internet annoying but it scares me.

There's no option for 1980's web design like rainbow dividers and cheesy animated GIF's!

And what about the cheesy counters at the bottom that say

    "0000002 Visitors since 1988"

I voted dead links... the others are annoying... but if you have finally found that bit of info you have been searching google for for the last hour and it suddenly isn't there because the web designer couldn't be bothered to type in the url correctly.. aaaaargh

I voted snobby web designers. Well, that kind of expands to anyone who's responsible for determining what goes on a website. Everything else relates back to snobbishness - you know, the people who think that their preferences and/or ad revenues are more important than user experience.

My biggest internet annoyance is international snobbishness. When people just don't consider the possibility that people from other countries could visit their site. Gasp! Nothing more annoying than spending half an hour shopping on a site and filling out forms only to find out that you can't buy their product because you live in the wrong country. Also annoying when you try to dig through the site to find some sort of indication of whether or not they will sell to you. This information is almost never easy to find, if it's there at all. What does www stand for again? That's right. WORLD Wide Web.

Just because it's called the World Wide Web doesn't mean each website has to ship internationally.

While I agree they should advertise blatantly whether or not they do. Two things that bug me about ecommerce sites are

    a) there are actually sites that don't place what currency they are using on the site

    b) they don't say where they will ship to (international or not)

hmm how bout large corporations bickering over who will control the internet, really 5417`5 me when you see aol, microsoft ect ect arguing over stupid little things in there bid to dominate the world... why cant they let us have some freedome to choose who we use and when we use them.

this in my opinion is more annoying then pop ups.

a bit like the article in the tech times about M$ restricting users on their site to IE only?

That's what I meant - I don't care if you can't ship internationally (oh well, you won't be getting my business!), but tell me if I can't buy your product before I waste a lot of my time!

It's called the WORLD Wide web, yes, that doesn't mean that everyone has to provide their product or service to every corner of the world, but it does mean that you should realize that people from other countries could visit your site.
