    Other!

The most annoying thing on the Internet is meeting other people (often in the same industry) from around the world and knowing that you can't drop by their office tomorrow afternoon.

Voted 1 - my all time hate.

The last option would be my second choice, but then it was one of those that prompted me to get involved in the first place, and its now my bread and butter - so I suppose I should be thankful for his arrogance and ignorance. I had a surefire "how not to" way of making a living - reversed it and I'm doing ok .

i voted Geocities. OMG those sites! cookies aren't annoying when they're used right (read useful), but they are when stupid things like Doubleclick use them.

It's got to be popups, especially the ad popups that the Microsoft site is using now.

When I have paid for their products, I don't want to to be exposed to popup ads every time I have to update my software or research a problem. It's an insult.

Popups yup, especially those ones where one popup appears, then on load it opens another popup which opens another popup on closing..how come this only happens when visiting "you know what I am talking about" websites?

i'm surprised no one has voted for the infamous X10 ads. Or are you men just hesitant to do so because of the cute women on the ads?

I voted for pop-ups, ugh!! The worst is when you're at a site, for example a font site, and when you close your window, another ad window opens, and when you close that, two more open, etc. etc.... AHHH!!

My second choice would have been X10 ads...what's with those!? They're everywhere!!

the x10 ad is a pop up so that really puts it in the same category as everyone that has voted for pop up ads...

as for geocities, there are a hell of alot of informative sites on geocities (and id say nearly everybody here started on geocities) its the pre-school for webdesigners, sounds a bit snoby to me saying that geocities is annoying

dead links is probably my biggest pet hate especially when i am looking for something that is extremely hard to find, you finaly find it and its not there (thank god for googles cache)

amature scripting... not annoying, because not everybody can be born talented at building a website.

    thats my $0.02

cookies, ive got about 500 of them on my computer at the moment (i cleaned temp internet files... but leave cookies), theres 500 there and not one of tem contains anything i havnt told the site i was looking at. annoying? nope, usefull? try looking at sitepoint with cookies disabled.

The most annoying thing is people trying to scam us for all our money, and being transparent about it, as if we're stupid.

There's too many people trying to take advantage of newbies.

BTW, I voted for pop-ups. Pop unders are worse though, because they treat us like we're stupid. Of course we notice it as it pops up, and then it disappears and we can't get to it. Annoying and degrading (good way of making money though, I hear).

Geocities isn't annoying! It is fantastic. I still have my original geocities account from years and years ago.

Another thing that is annoying is people who design for a specific browser and resolution and either don't fix it for other browsers and resolutions, or try to tell us which browser and resolution to use. For instance, "This page is designed to work with Internet Explorer 4 and above, at 800x600. Please upgrade."

Pop-ups and amateur implementation of DHTML (of HTML, CSS, graphics for that matter).

I know most of us started out writing terrible pages full of animated GIFs and psychedelic backgrounds with lots of exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!! I really should be more tolerant of bad pages, but they do annoy me a bit. It's OK if they're personal pages I guess, but these pseudo-professional pages really get to me - particularly if they're trying to make me part with some money
    that's me!

Looks like pops have it, Its what I voted for.

My second choice would have been amateur implementation of javascript/dhtml (i.e. pixie dust on mouse curser)

I also voted for pop-up ads. They're really the only thing tha annoys me on the Internet. None of the other choices really affect me. Not even the X10 ads.

I voted for snobby web designers who think that pop ups, scripting errors, dead links, amateur implementations, and Geocities are bad.

Those pompous prats! Don't they realize it's all part of the experience... Shottyness is a virtue.

BTW, is it just me, or is anyone else wondering what type of "font" sites Swimm's been visiting...
