Question Sitepoint Trick :: Non-Universal Fonts Loaded by Browser

I've been noticing some sites out there loading non-universal fonts successfully. Even on http://www.sitepoint.com.au/ home page there are quit a few areas where one would normally see the text in an image because of the 'special font' issue. Yet in places like "Web Development Solutions to Grow Your Business" and "Web Development Excellence" all are text areas loaded by the browser. I'm sure this issue has been covered before but can some one please go over how to do this without creating dynamic images?

    fonts

The fonts you refer to are flash. So they are images. If a user's computer does not have a font available, it can't use it to render text in a page using that font but must use what it has instead.

The technique used in your example site is sIFR. This is fine for headings and small chunks of text, but should not be used for body copy.

Wow. I'm reading up on this sIFR right now! Just from reading a few pages I don’t understand how these are still images. Even if the text is rendered in Flash how come, for example, on SitePoint the text being rendered is not an image but regular text even in their source code “
Web Development Solutions to Grow Your Business
”? Sorry ahead of time if this sounds extremely ignorant…
