TECHNIQUES: Dotty Weirdness

Aright, another quicky, but definitely useful if you're into those weird retro things (can also be combined with other TECHNIQUES threads for interesting effects).

1. Make a new image
2. Make a new channel
3. Do a shape (text, circle, I don't care)
4. Filter > blur > gaussian blur > 3-8 pixels
5. Invert it (CTRL + I)
6. Filter > Pixelate > Colour Halftone (default settings)
7. That's it

You can then select the channel (no, this doesn't need to be done in channels) (CTRL + click) and fill it, gradient fill it, do whatever.

hmmm. Interesting. Not sure what I'd use it for though. Not even sure I did it right. INTERESTING THOUGH.

Whoa talk about resurrecting from the dead!

Anyways:

1. Do the Dotty Weirdness
2. Fill it with clouds (blue/black)
3. Copy the layer
4. FIll the bottom layer with black
5. Motion blur it (zoom)

hehe, thanks so much Jeremy! i checked ur site and it has great tutorials as well! great work!

hmm, i'm having trouble working out what to do after i've done the last step of the dotty things. when i go look at the image, it's still a blank white image. i rendered clouds, and then i just get confused from there, lol.
