    CSS pop up question

I'd like to create a pop up like this:

When someone clicks on an image or a link, a box like the one shown above appears, with an image at the top and a description at the bottom. You have to be able to save the image, so the pop up has to stay there even when you move away from the link. Ideally, you have to click on the X to make it disappear. And when someone isn't able to view the pop up, there should be a fall back solution which redirects the user to another page when you click on the link.

Is something like this even possible?

Sounds like a good use for the Lightbox (or similar) script:
    - Lightbox 2: http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/
    - Thickbox 1.1: http://jquery.com/demo/thickbox/

Of course those only work properly with javascript, but that would be necessary anyway for what you have in mind. But the advantage is, the image/content is still displayed when javascript is turned off, not just in the way you'd like it.
