    directory settings

hello - I was wondering if there is a good way to set the server to default on php files named index on each directory. That didn't come out too well... for example, the server will obviously pick up the index.htm file in www.mydomain/dirtwo so I don't have to type in www.mydomain.com/dirtwo/index.htm. Is there a way to set the server so it does the same for php files? Is this something that can be set in an .htaccess file? thanks

Yes, all you have to do is add this line to the .htaccess file,

    DirectoryIndex index.html index.php whatever.php

the file order is order used by apache to look for each file if the first one is missing.
