Angry Displays almost fine in FF, weird in IE

    http://www.bulldogmotorservices.co.uk/index2.html

CSS is in the same page.

If you preview the site in IE or FF, in Firefox it displays almost as I would like it to

However in IE, for whatever reason, the background colour of the #main doesn't display at all, and I am left with blue background instead of FFs white.

    Any idea why?

And another thing - is there a way to get the red dashed border to extend to the bottom of the main area - to the start of #footer - so rather than have it stop half way down, it will carry on until the copyright information.

I have had to use a hack to get the site to have a min-height of 500px, so I think this is the cause of why the border stops. i have no idea why the background colour doesn't display.

    Many thanks.

Also could you advise on how to stop the navigation box stretching - it is fine in firefox (<3), but IE..grr.

For the background color in the #main div, I removed everything from the #content div and it works fine in both IE and FF. Since everything is positioned absolutely this should not cause problems.

For the navigation menu, I added a thin border to the #navigation li rule and the spacing in IE corrected itself.

To understand why it's doing that and how to fix it, I suggest you read these articles that explain some of IE's weird behavior. (I discourage the use of the underscore hack, which the first one recommends though.)

@ RogueJedi - works brilliantly, much appreciated.

@ Kravvitz - links look interesting, I will read up on that. Cheers.

Heh, as simple as using a background-image instead.

    Nice, thanks for the help.
