    Charset in SEO

    <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    I've never placed this within my code (for my own sites) and do'nt think i've been adversely affected.

    I've actually never run any stats between sites with the above tag and those without.

    Q. If I insert in all my pages will I penalised in ANYWAY, or DELAYED?

    Q. Will it hurt/benefit my SERP position if all my pages reflect this.

    Q. If I don't update every single page with the code (100% eventually 90% today) will that adversely affect my websites?

    Any thoughts?

    charset cannot harm your rankings and cannot boost your rankings.
    It is only definition of charset what you are using for your text on your page.

    It's a good thing to have in your webpages and it does not affect SEO in any way.

    I've never done an empirical study on it so thought I'd drop a line to double check.
