    Hi I've just downloaded IE7 Beta2 and checked my site www.cavaliermailing.com and my jaw dropped - It does not diplay any of the main body of the site: Can anyone help?

    I guessing it might be something to do with star html hacks used in the css:
    eg

    /* the bodge for IE6 browsers */
    * html .minwidth {border-left:777px solid #fff; position:relative; float:left; z-index:1;}
    * html .container {margin-left:-777px; position:relative; float:left; z-index:2;}

    If so what is the solution?

    In Standards compliance mode, IE7 ignores selectors that include the "* html" hack. (That doctype will trigger Standards compliance mode in IE7.)

    I suspect IE7 needs a few of the properties that you gave IE6.

    I suggest you use conditional comments to give fixes to IE7. Just remember that only IE5+/Win supports them.

    Alternatively, you could use the *+html hack for IE7.

    Or you could forget about IE7 as it's still a beta release and wait for the public release and fix the problem then. Whose to say changes you make now won't have to be undone when the final product comes out?

    IE7 is "Layout Complete", so the rendering engine won't be changed until the after IE7 is released.

    I was also happy to announce that we are now layout complete with the release of the MIX build Ė we donít plan to add more layout features or drastically change layout behavior.
    Still leaving themselves room to change some stuff though. I don't have enough confidence in Microsoft to safely assume they won't.

    Thanks for your comments - for the time being I've kind of taped over the crack with an additional hack which cover IE6 & IE7 issues

    * html .minwidth, *+html .minwidth

    and alike
    Not ideal maybe but I'm damned if I'm going to spend too much time on it only for Microsoft to move the goal posts.
