no Cygwin on Windows XP :(

That's something I should have known before I upgraded... Cygwin just won't work on XP. Or I did something wrong.

Anyone managed to run Cygwin on XP yet ? If so, please tell me how...

Hmmm, that sucks :/ I wonder if MS did something to block it, or if the cygwin guys haven't built in XP support yet...

Have you tried GCC? It does the same thing...

I've never heard of that either. Do they have a website? I am sure they have some sort of information on how their software works (or doesn't work) on Windows XP.

Cygwin allows you to run UNIX command line commands under DOS.

I doubt that Cygwin will work since there is no DOS in XP right?

Try putting it in compatibility mode, I looked at their website a while ago which said some users can run it on XP and some can't. What are you using it for? Could you dual-boot instead?

I think daul booting to run a command line shell is a bit extreme...

I said that because he may just be using cygwin to run PostgreSQL, for example. This should in theory run on XP without cygwin, but if not most Linux distros have it
