Question Strange Scroll Bars In Internet Explorer

    Hi everyone,

I have been working on converting a site from a frames / tables layout
    to a CSS based one.

I thought I had it all sorted, however I am getting some odd behaviour
    in IE:

    when I visit http://www.smanagement.co.uk/newsite/people.php?id=4 in
Internet Explorer a horizontal scroll bar appears for the window (I
expect one to appear in the middle of the page as I am using overflow:
auto for that div). However if I then refresh the page, or resize it
the scroll bar goes away. This doesn't happen in firefox and it seems
that it only happens in IE the first time.

Has anyone seen this before? It's really strange.

I've tried removing the javascript from the page and using different methods to include the CSS. I've also tried adding a blank javascript tag to the header as mentioned somewhere on the web.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Lewis

It looks fine in IE6 and IE7 to me. What version(s) do you see the problem in?

Code for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, & Opera, then add fixes for IE, not vice versa.

that's the annoying thing, it does work sometimes and it does work when the page is refreshed or resized...

    I'm using IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519

not wanting to get too distracted from my main issue, what's the best way to run ie 6 & 7 simultaneously?
