    Hi,

I'm trying to setup a CGI script on my website, and the Setup file tells me I need to chmod files in certain ways...there are 3 columns per file...some say "666", some say "755", "777", etc...I once learned what these numbers meant in relation to "Read, Write, and Execute", but I've forgotten. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

400 = Owner has read permission
200 = Owner has write permission
100 = Owner has execute permission

040 = Group has read permission
020 = Group has write permission
010 = Group has execute permission

004 = World has read permission
002 = World has write permission
001 = World has execute permission

Add the number up and you have your access status.

777 means that owner, group and world have rwx.
755 means owner has rwx, group has rx, world has rx.

    Hope this solves your problem.
    Christian
