    Exclamation Advice for Writers

There are more than a few writers of computer-related content on these forums. Here is an article that goes 'behind the scenes' on writing books, articles, and online content.

    Scroll down a little bit:

Actually WHO are the writers in here?? Show yourselves! It's good to know where the creatives, and where the tech-heads reside. A great site involves teamwork. Matt didn't make Sitepoint all by himself!!

I'm a technical writer by trade, a former corporate "captive" turned freelancer. I don't write webmaster-related content, though -- just stuff that supports software and helps others write more effectively.

I wish I was... I've finally found my "style" and so I'm comfortable writing... I've got one on SitePoint, another on my site and just about to write another 12 this month (mostly for SitePoint).

Style is a difficulat issue for me. The reason being is that a lot of the writing I do is for academic conferences adn publications such as journals or books. It is a totally different style than writing for SitePoint, or for instance, the Community Crier.

I'm writing a book. When its done I will ask Sitepoint if they want to publish it, if not I will self publish it.

If I self publish it I will most likely do so through a service that sells through Amazon.com, BN.com, etc. If you search for "website promotion" on either of those sites you get less than 10 results so I figure with that low amount of competition I'll sell a decent amount of copies

    Howdy!

I haven't written for SitePoint (would be happy to if asked), but I do write freelance articles that pertain to small business and the Web.

The best part of my writing is trying to throw all the jargon out the window and put my topics in everyday terms that are easy for a tech or non tech person to understand.

Well, I believe I can speak honestly when I say "SitePoint would love to have you".

Feel free to submit an article to Nicky at crier@sitepoint.com. If the article is what SitePoint is looking for it will be published on the SitePoint Network as well as the Community Crier (Nicky will pass it on).

It's a great experience, and definitely good publicity. In reality all members are encouraged to write articles, tutorials, tips and tricks, etc. Not only does it give talented people the feedback and respect they deserve but it's what community is all about.

i gave it a shot here at sitepoint and wrote an article about the CIW...but it's not publiished yet...i'll see how it goes.
but i do technical writing every now and then...i'm also an analyst for the time being, used to be a content manager in my old job.

so i guess i'm a writer and mother nature's been helping me walk that road ever since.
I might also work as part time instructor...

Style is a difficulat issue for me. The reason being is that a lot of the writing I do is for academic conferences adn publications such as journals or books. It is a totally different style than writing for SitePoint, or for instance, the Community Crier.
    totally agree

    did i mention i'm a poet too

I've been published on SitePoint and I have occasionally written for Sports Central, so I consider myself a writer, although that is not the main function of my duties. I might like to pursue journalism down the road, though.

I've written a few pieces for SitePoint in the past, as well as other webmaster resource sites. I'm currently working on a couple more articles..just wish I had the time to finish them
