Anthrax Letters “Read Like A Nutcase”

    Letter to NBC's Tom Brokaw:
    09-11-01
    THIS IS NEXT
    TAKE PENACILIN NOW
    DEATH TO AMERICA
    DEATH TO ISRAEL
    ALLAH IS GREAT
    Letter to Senator Tom Daschle
    09-11-01
    YOU CAN NOT STOP US.
    WE HAVE THIS ANTHRAX
    YOU DIE NOW.
    ARE YOU AFRAID?
    DEATH TO AMERICA.
    DEATH TO ISRAEL.
    ALLAH IS GREAT.
These were, of course, hand written in the actual letters. You can view them at ABCNews’s site: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/pdf/a...tter101601.pdf. The letter to Tom Brokaw had no return address. The letter to Sen. Tom Daschle had a 4th grade class as its return address.

Aside from being the worst prose you've ever read, what do you think of them? Foreign or Domestic? Any thing else you'd like to add?

Were these the letters postmarked in New Jersey?

Zoomed in on the postmark. 'Looks like it came from Trenton.

I have no idea how the mail system works, but wouldn't that mean that the letter was sent from some location in New Jersey? Making it a domestic drop...

    Yes and no.

One of the major postal ports for receiving mail from overseas, just so happens to be in the great state of NJ.

If foreign terrorists sent the letters, they had to have a cell here in the U.S.. Just because it from Trenton doesn't mean that they're American crackpots, but it certently doesn't exclude them, either. All it means is that the letters were sent from Trenton, N.J.. If they were sent from oversees, they would have a foreign postmark.

I saw some pundits on TV saying since they were postmarked in the US, it had to have been a 'homegrown' terrorist like McVeigh. How idiotic. Like the 9/11 terrorists hijacked planes leaving from Kabul?
