Password Protection for a Results Page!

Say I have a form that sends it's results to a results page. I want to password protect the results page using a pop-up window asking for username and password and then if they are correct, going to the results page, and if they are incorrect, bringing up an editable error page saying that they aren't allowed access to the results page. What is the best Javascript or otherwise that I could use to achieve this?

It's sort of a long question, if you need clarification, just ask...

    re:

I think that easiest, dirty, way would be to put the results page in the separate directory. Then force user to authenticate if he/she wants to access anything in this directory. I believe editing .htaccess file (on Linux) should do the trick or setting permissions on directory through control panel on Windows. (I'm assuming that all users will have exact same password otherwise, you have to implement authentication system.)

    Good Luck!

p.s. I read somewhere that you can do some "hacks" with JS to implement weak security so if you do some research you may find something along these lines.

If you have the ability to use ASP I could rig you up just such a script in about 5 minutes (or less) flat, most likely.

Let me know if it's an option.
