Question SEO and Shared IP addresses

    Hey,

I posted this same question at another forum, and I wanted some different
    opinions or experiences.

I have a dedicated server. The server comes with 5 IP's available to use, and additional cost extra.

I have 2 ips for the nameservers.
I have 6 domains sharing the same IP address.

What effect if any would this have on the search engines?
Should I have a dedicated ip for each domain?

Only if you plan to cross-link them. Otherwise sharing an IP doesn't make any difference.

Hey, thanks for the reply, but you didn't say in what way it would effect them.

I might want to link each site to another, so this is bad?

Its not "bad" persey but you will get more weight when your links come in from sites on different IPs.

If you want to link them and if they are not related no matter whatever you do on IP you will not benefit much.

And most likely the IPs would be in the same class, which Google would treat the same as shared anyway.

As for crosslinking: your 5 IP's on one server is nothing for search engines, because they are all located in one place.
