    WCAG 2.0 is broken!

Not sure if you guys read my blog post about this, or Joe Clark's article on A List Apart, but this is really important if you care at all about web accessibility!

I urge you all to go spend a few minutes digesting what this means and leaving some comments for the W3C. I've left a few for them, but the more people who speak up the better chance there is that this will be rejected, as it should.

You have just 5 days left!

I don't know what sort of feedback to provide to the W3C on this one. 'Please start over'?

WCAG 2.0 is so messed up that it's probably beyond salvation.

I find the whole thing a total nightmare.

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic but it seems to me that all those people that we bang on to about sticking to a (reasonably) tight set of standards are going to love this.

No, those that stick to a tight set of standards will not like the Draft either.

The only people that will by happy are those that realise that the WCAG 2.0 is so slipshod they can bypass several dozen major accessibility concerns. Then smugly tell their audience they are accessible because they can pick and choose Baselines to make them look good.

I'm frequently on another forum where I bore people stiff about how we should follow standards and that we must have a set of rules as a framework to work to blah blah blah.

I'm dreading the first post about this on there - I can hear it now "well do you want us to follow the standards or not - make your mind up!" *sigh*

I feel your pain. The feedback I left was just a few random but core things that I actually was able to comprehend amongst all the jargon. I guess all we can hope for is the chance that there is so much opposition to the working draft that they do indeed start over. Don't know what the chances are though.

WCAG 2.0 is broken beyond belief. I wanted to leave a nice detailed comment on ALA this morning (it was around 4AM) but I was too tired (not to mention angry) to leave a coherent response. I ended up with a post over there that made me look like an idiot, and now that I'm awake (and coherent) I'm regretting it.

Well, as fun as they are to read, we've got few more weeks now to digest it all and leave comments.
