[LOGO] Feedback on new logo designs

Hi - I'm just in the process of reviewing our company branding and have come up with the designs below.

Your feedback on colours, usage (signage, website, emails, letterheads etc) would be most welcome

These actually all look very good/professional in my opinion. My favorites in order are:

    3,2,4,7

2 looks best so far, though I'd play with sizing and placing the envelope.
Work a little more on kerning (letter spacing) - "ie" pair and "rm" one look very bad now.
Try to find a better red shade - #ff0000 isn't too nice.

2 is undoubtedly the nicest. maybe open up the tracking a little? just looks a bit stifled. personally i don't like red/black logos reminds me of old gary numan posters too much. how about completely new colours?

I like 2 & 3 but I would change the font entirely or fix the kerning. Colors are fine IMO.

I wonder, however, how #2 would look if you flip-flopped the red & black in the text, brought the back end of the envelope around a bit closer so the lower left corner was closer to the 'i' in 'cavalier', then moved it down to the right...roughly to where the front end of the envelope is over the 'a' and add two soft waves to the left (in red)past the left side of the envelope to show speed or motion. It might make it a bit more dynamic.

Thanks so far everyone - I created these logos myself after I was sent the following by a 'designer'. I know design is a very inidividual thing so what do you think to these?
(I'll get around to making a couple of the suggested changes shortly.)

I think nr 7 from the first set is still the best. these in the second set are not so good. just one idea...what about making the "cavalier" bold?

Thanks for everyone's replies - very constructive. Having posted the same comments on another forum there was a general concensus for #3. Interesting how different groups view things differently - you can imagine the internal wranglings that we are having!

My personal preference had been #8 but there has been no comment on it negatively or positively. I felt that the envelope on the red background was almost a logo or brand in itself and potentially could be used by itself as well?

    Your thoughts?

With your comments on board, I've narrowed it down to 3 (two variations of #3 - moved the mailing text down so it does not overlap)

Our requirements for the logo will include:

    Website
    Letterheads
    Invoices
    Business Cards
    5 x 4 metre exterior signs
    Banner exhibition stands
    Email
    ...more?

To that end I've mocked up some business cards (below) and letterheads. It's interesting that logos have several very different mediums to appear on and some work better than other on print, some better on screen (website), others for signage.

Making the contents to be displayed somewhat clearer and brightening the links present in the contents would do still better. Cheers...

#3 version requires more work before proceeding to other CI design elements.
The sizes of both texts in relation to logo sign aren't perfect now - the logo is a bit too small.
Try pushing down "mailing" a little and this will allow you to make the envelope bigger.
Also its top edge - it's so close to horizontal, that either make it so (I'd opt for this) or turn a little, so it isn't horizontal anymore. Now it looks like a mistake, not a planned design decision.

#8 - requires better logo icon positioning in relation to the text part. Now it's too close to it. Also it could be better balanced/aligned - try moving it over the leftmost line in "m".

It's funny that so many people picked number 2. Number 1 was so overwhelming that when you saw 2 it was a breath of fresh air. Personally, I think the designs are retro 1999 website, (right after the time period when #1 would have been the norm). Anyway the kerning is too tight and cramped, that could give a bad image. The envelope is a little retro and almost looks forced. (It almost feels like "Oh wouldn't it be cool if I added an envelope"). I'm sorry if this post seems a little mean...not trying to....but, I just feel you could think outside the "mailbox"....... Good luck

I liked number 2 and number 8 in the first set. 8 keeps growing on me.

#3 in the first set is the best IMO. I like it a lot.

2 or 3 is the best I dont know, they both get the point across the best. The ones with boxes I think dont work as well. I like 3 the most, but it doesnt popout to say anything about mail with the logo. Maybe implement the #3 icon with the mail icon or wrap it around the mail? That could look cool. Youre great at making logos and great variations

2nd column, 3rd row down on the business cards is my favorite logo concepts. I would try a less generic font though...

Thanks to everyone for their comments / feedback so far.

...and so just to throw a spanner in the works (or maybe not, we'll see) I've come up with something completely different

    Voila!

Too bold font (Gill Sans Extra Bold?) dominates the whole design and makes it too heavy.
This idea could work, but maybe try a different font for it.
Also don't use apply such a shadow to the envelope.

I like the font on your initial offering better than the fatter font in #18 and #20. Maybe make "cavalier" a little bolder? I don't know if the color is a corporate must, but I'd go one shade darker on the red, that's probably just a personal preferences of mine I guess.

If you want to be able to use the envelope as a stand alone logo, perhaps add a "C" to the flap?

From the original post i reckon 2 and 4 are the best, simple and effective.

2 colours will work great if you need to print the logo (keeps the costs down )

If your going for your own individual identity go for 4 as the swirly logo will set you apart from other similar companies who may also use the generic envelope symol.

Overall they are both great, just tone down the red a bit (it's a tad bright) and you're there.

most of them look really good and professional but I think number 8 from the first set is the best. It looks really good on the letter too.
